The Prime Minister Modi Agneepath Scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday paid tributes to the martyrs of the 1999 Kargil war here on the 25th anniversary of India’s victory in the war over Pakistan. The Prime Minister paid floral tributes at the Drass War Memorial to honour the officers and soldiers of the armed forces who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation. The Indian Army had announced the successful conclusion of ‘Operation Vijay’ on July 26, 1999 after winning the nearly three-month long battle on the icy peaks of Kargil in Ladakh. July 26 is celebrated as ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in the war.

These are the same people who wanted that the Air Force should never get modern fighter jets. These are the same people who had made preparations to put the Tejas fighter plane in the box.

PM Modi said, I am surprised what has happened to the understanding of some people. They are spreading the illusion that the government is bringing this scheme to save money on pension. I want to ask, will the people who get recruited today during our rule have to be given pension today itself? When the turn comes, Modi will be 105 years old, will Modi’s government be there, can I do this for politics?
For me, country is more important than party. It is very sad that some people are doing politics for their own selfish interests even on army reforms. These are the same people who have weakened our army by committing scams worth thousands of crores. These are the same people who prevented the air force from getting modern jets. History is witness to those who are misleading the youth of the country. They do not care about the soldiers.

We have respected this decision taken by the armed forces because for us, the security of the country is paramount, not politics. These are the same people who lied about One Rank One Pension by showing Rs 500 crore. It is our government that implemented One Rank One Pension, gave more than Rs 1.25 lakh crore to ex-servicemen. These are the same people who did not build a war memorial for the martyrs even after 7 decades of independence. These are the same people who did not even provide adequate bulletproof jackets to our soldiers deployed on the border.
