After Delhi coaching incident, strictness increased in Patna, 138 centers will be closed, investigation of 339 is pending

After the death of three UPSC aspirants due to waterlogging in the basement of IAS Study Circle RAU’s coaching center in Delhi, action is being taken against coaching institutes in Patna as well. The Patna administration has taken action against 138 coaching centers running in the capital. 138 coaching centers that do not fulfill the prescribed criteria for running a coaching center will be closed. Also, preparations are being made to impose a fine of 25 thousand to 1 lakh rupees on them.

Actually, District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh in Patna has formed a committee and got the coaching institutes investigated. The investigation has revealed that these 138 coaching centres were running without registration. The administration has decided to close such coaching centres. Also, preparations are being made to impose a fine of 25 thousand to 1 lakh on those coaching centres which are not registered. The sub-divisional officer has been ordered to take action against these coaching centres.

Out of 523 coaching centres, 138 were found ineligible

According to the information, 936 applications have been received for registration in Patna district in the last few days and a total of 413 applications have been registered. When 523 of these applications were investigated, 138 institutes were found ineligible. Patna DM has also ordered a quick investigation of 339 pending applications. Patna DM Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh found during the investigation that these coaching institutes do not meet the standards set by the government. After this, an order was issued to close them.

7 teams are investigating coaching centers

Sub-divisional officers have also been directed to investigate whether these 138 coaching institutes, which were found ineligible for registration, are being run illegally. If they are being run illegally, then sub-divisional officers have been directed to take legal action. The district administration has formed 7 teams to investigate the coaching institutes, which include six sub-divisional level and one district level team.

What are the standards for coaching centres?
According to the set standards, no coaching institute will be established or run without a valid registration certificate. The area of ​​any coaching institute must be at least 1 square meter per student. There should be no restriction on entry-exit in the coaching institute and compliance of building bylaws should be ensured. Apart from this, compliance of fire security standards should also be ensured in coaching institutes. Coaching center operators will be given three chances to meet these standards, if the standards are not followed even in the third time, then their registration will also be canceled. Let us tell you that the DM has asked the District Education Officer to complete the investigation of 339 pending applications soon and call a meeting of the registration committee.

The accident happened on 27 July in Delhi

On 27 July, three UPSC aspirants died after water filled in the basement of RAU’s coaching centre located in Old Rajendra Nagar after rain. Two girl students and a boy student were trapped inside the basement for more than four hours, by the time they were rescued, all three had died. Currently, the CBI is investigating this incident.
