Amidst the success of ‘Stree 2’ in theatres, actor Abhishek Banerjee is once again garnering praise from the public. In the first film of the horror universe ‘Stree’ released in 2018, Abhishek Banerjee created the atmosphere of the film and the public liked him a lot in the role of ‘Jana’.

Even though the lead actors in ‘Stree 2’ are Rajkumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, the role of Abhishek Banerjee’s character is still very important in the story. But now Abhishek has made a shocking revelation. He has told that even though the character of Jana in ‘Stree’ was a big break for him, but after this, a phase of depression came in his life.

Abhishek Banerjee narrated his story
In an interview with News 18, Abhishek revealed what happened to him after the release of ‘Stree’. He said, ‘After Jana, I was getting all idiot type roles. Everyone wanted me to wear something colorful, flashy and talk in a certain way. Jana is just a character and I am close to this character. But I am not like this in real life. Then I did ‘Dream Girl’ and ‘Bala’ and everyone thought that I am a comic actor.’

Abhishek told that he was in depression during Covid and he felt that now no one would be able to imagine him in any other role. He said, ‘Thankfully, Sudeep Sharma imagined me in the role of Hathauda Tyagi in ‘Paatal Lok’. He imagined me in this role after watching ‘Stree’, so all the credit goes to him.’

‘Patal Lok’ created a stir
Abhishek further said that Hathoda Tyagi was his ‘big break’, but ‘Paatal Lok’ created a strong environment for him. Abhishek said, ‘After Hathoda Tyagi, I got calls from the industry, saying ‘Oh you are an actor, you can do this.’ But again, after Hathoda Tyagi, I started getting all psycho roles. Now the fight is to prove that I can do normal roles as well. I can do drama, romance, anything. I am very stubborn.’

Abhishek said that criticism is not new for him and some people had criticized his work in ‘Paatal Lok’ as well. He said, ‘Someone said – what has Abhishek done in Paatal Lok? He is just like Jana. This is easy.’

On 15 August, while Abhishek was seen doing comedy in ‘Stree 2’, he played the role of a villain in the film ‘Veda’ which clashed with it. Abhishek’s work has been praised a lot in the reviews of ‘Veda’ too.
