In 2022, a nude photoshoot of Ranveer Singh was quite controversial. There was so much debate about it that this photoshoot in itself became a national issue. Now ‘Aashiqui’ fame actress Anu Agarwal has defended this photoshoot of Ranveer. Anu also talked about giving a topless scene in her 1994 short film ‘The Cloud Door’.
He said that it is not just about taking off clothes. But such things break a man’s barriers and his range as an actor increases a lot.
When Anu’s topless scene was kept in the script without telling her
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Anu talked about her interview and said that she was not told earlier that there was such a scene in the film. Anu said, ‘I did not know that something like this was going to happen. When I heard the script, it was not in the script. After that when we were shooting, the shooting was completed, there was a 30-day shoot and on the 29th day they came and told me that this is a night shoot and in this… (you have to go topless). I said ‘What do you mean?’ I said that this was not in the script. That’s why I will not do this scene.’
It was not that Anu could not do that scene or there was some other reason, but her problem was that ‘why did you not tell me?’ She told that they had finished shooting in Neemrana and returned home to Mumbai.
Anu further said, ‘Then after a month, I was questioning myself that ‘you call yourself an actor and you refused to do this scene.’ Then I felt that this is unethical, it should have been told when the script was narrated. Whether I did it or not, it was my choice. Being topless in public, this is not something that someone does every day.’
Anu told that her German producer had given this script to 12 countries and said that she will send 3 of them to Cannes. Her director came and told her that her film will be selected but the producer’s demand is that the film will move forward only if this topless scene is there. Anu told that she took this scene as a challenge for the actress, but she did not like the producer’s ethics.
Anu told that her family was very supportive about this scene. In fact, she first showed this scene to her mother, who liked the scene. Anu told, ‘She did not pay attention to being topless. She saw the art. She thought that the sets were very good and there were many colors. She herself is an artist.’
Anu Agarwal spoke on Ranveer’s controversial photoshoot
When Ranveer Singh was asked about his nude photoshoot, he said, ‘I think a man, an actor has to be courageous. Because a normal man cannot be like that. As an actor, we cross our barriers with such things.’
He said that it is not just about being topless or nude. Even if someone is crying in front of the camera with great reality, because people cannot cry in front of the camera. If someone crosses his barriers then it greatly expands his range as an actor.
