AAP gets a jolt in MCD Standing Committee elections, BJP wins in 7 out of 12 zones

In the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections, BJP has won in 7 out of 12 zones. In contrast, Aam Aadmi Party was able to win in only five zones. These elections held in the corporation are important because it will bring changes in the structure of the influential standing committee of the Municipal Corporation. This committee looks after important administrative and financial matters in the Municipal Corporation.

With BJP winning in 7 zones, the party has gained seven members from these areas for the Standing Committee and with this the leadership of the committee has come to BJP, which will be monitored by LG. Apart from these, 2 members of BJP have been elected from the House, which has increased their total number of members in the Standing Committee to 9.

On the other hand, even though the Aam Aadmi Party has won in fewer zones, it has still managed to elect 5 members from constituencies and 3 members from the House. This makes their total number of members in the Standing Committee 8.

This show of strength within the MCD is crucial for the governance of Delhi, as the standing committee is responsible for approving policies and overseeing other operations of the city. The BJP’s influence may now create problems for the Aam Aadmi Party, where the party captured the municipal corporation after many years, and the party managed to appoint its own mayor.

This victory is also important for the BJP because it has given the party more power in the Municipal Corporation. For example, the responsibility of administrative matters is considered important in the Municipal Corporation, which also has financial matters in its hands. This means that the fund management of the corporation is now in the hands of the BJP. At the same time, AAP will need to move forward with a new strategy so that they can implement their policies and schemes.
