A woman was sexually assaulted in Delhi, now the accused auto driver was caught from Mumbai like this

The crime branch team arrested the auto-rickshaw driver who sexually harassed a female passenger in Delhi from Mumbai. The cunning accused committed this crime five years ago. After this, he was arrested and sent to jail. But after getting interim bail, he came out and then absconded. Now the crime branch has arrested him.

The accused auto driver who did this shameful act with the woman has been identified as 55-year-old Bhanu Pratap. Giving information about this on Friday, Deputy Commissioner of Police Satish Kumar of Crime Branch of Delhi Police told PTI that Bhanu Pratap was declared a fugitive criminal on November 4 last year.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Satish Kumar said that on 2 December 2019, a woman boarded Bhanu Pratap’s autorickshaw from Kashmiri Gate. But he stopped the auto in the middle of the way at a deserted place. It is alleged that then the accused misbehaved with the female passenger and sexually harassed her.

Crime Branch DCP Satish Kumar said that the accused Bhanu Pratap also snatched the victim’s mobile phone and Rs 1,000 in cash. During this time, the victim somehow managed to escape and then a passerby informed the police about the incident over the phone.

The DCP further said that an FIR was registered against the accused at that time and he was arrested. But during the lockdown period, the accused Bhanu got interim bail. But he did not surrender and since then he was absconding. He was evading arrest.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Satish Kumar, during this time, Delhi Police received information that the accused was hiding in Mumbai. After confirming the information, a plan was made to catch the accused and a team conducted a raid and arrested the accused Bhanu Pratap from Mumbai. Now he has been brought to Delhi.
