A unique record will be created in Kerala, when the IAS husband retires, his wife will become the Chief Secretary

Kerala is going to make a unique record in bureaucracy in the coming days. The reason is, on August 31, Kerala Chief Secretary Dr. Venu V’s wife Sharada Muralidharan will take over this post. She is currently the Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning Department. Actually, senior IAS officer Dr. Venu V is retiring on August 31. In such a situation, the government has chosen his wife, senior IAS officer Sharada Muralidharan for this post.

This will be the first time in the history of Kerala that a couple will hold the post of Chief Secretary twice in a row. This IAS couple has become a topic of discussion in the entire state. Dr. Venu IAS congratulated his wife on becoming his successor. Earlier, two couples have held the post of Chief Secretary, but this is the first time that a couple is holding the post of Chief Secretary twice in a row, that is, they will assume the post as successor. Earlier, V Ramachandran of 1957 batch and his wife Padma Ramachandran of 1958 batch, Babu Jacob of 1968 batch and his wife Lizzie Jacob of 1971 batch have also held this post.

Let us tell you that Sarada Muralidharan has worked in the fields of local governance, rural development, poverty alleviation, women empowerment in the state and has been the Director General of National Rural Livelihood Mission, Ministry of Panchayati Raj and National Institute of Fashion Technology at the national government level. She is currently Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Planning and Economic Affairs, Program Implementation Evaluation and Monitoring, Member Secretary of State Planning Board and Local Self Government (WM) Department, Government of Kerala.
