A phone that started a new company, people could not find its successor

Sometimes a brand creates such products that write a new story for it. One such product was launched by Xiaomi 6 years ago in 2018. We are talking about Xiaomi Pocophone F1. The brand has not been able to repeat the success that the company got after the launch of this phone.

Xiaomi made POCO a separate brand after the success of Pocophone F1. After the year 2018, people were waiting for POCO F2, but for the next few years we did not get any information from this brand. The company has launched its second phone in February 2020.

People did not like the successor

The brand launched the POCO X2, which received mixed reactions from people. Some people liked this phone, while some were disappointed with it. There was also a major change in the leadership of the company in the year 2019. At that time Jai Mani left the company. The Pocophone F1 continued to sell from its launch in 2018 to the launch of the next phone.

While smartphone brands were launching new phones every other month, the Pocophone F1 was sold by the company continuously for two years. In the year 2020, POCO X2 was launched, which was a good phone, but it could not match the expectations of Pocophone F1.

What was special in Pocophone F1?

This Poco phone was launched in the mid-range budget with premium features. The company launched this phone at an initial price of Rs 23,999. This price was for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the phone. OnePlus phones were quite popular at that time. The company called itself a flagship killer.

However, what the Pocophone F1 did was actually act as a flagship killer. The phone featured Gorilla Glass protection on the front. The handset was launched with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, which was the flagship processor of that year.

It had a 12MP + 5MP dual rear camera and a 20MP front camera. The smartphone came with a 4000mAh battery, which supported 18W charging (fast charging then). Overall, all these features were available in flagship devices at that time, which POCO offered at half the price.

POCO F2 not launched

The company has been continuously launching phones since the year 2021. The brand launched M-series, X-series and C-series phones. All these phones were good, but none of them had the quality of Pocophone F1. After this, the company launched POCO F3 GT, which was a powerful phone, but with this people’s wait for POCO F2 also ended forever.

The company had argued at that time that the situation in which Pocophone F1 was launched is no longer the same. At that time the value of dollar against rupee was different. Also the technology was cheaper, due to which the company could not launch a phone with similar features at the price of Pocophone F1.
