A missing statue from the Titanic’s first-class lounge has been rediscovered by researchers

Never-before-seen images have been released that capture a long-lost statue and the decaying wreckage of the Titanic.

RMS Titanic, Inc. The team, which is dedicated to preserving the ocean liner’s legacy, spent 20 days at the wreck site over the summer taking more than two million images and videos, FOX Weather reported.

Researchers rediscovered the statue of Ancient Roman Goddess “Diana of Versailles,” and findings were recently shared by RMS Titanic Inc.

“RMS Titanic, Inc. is thrilled to share the first images and remarkable discoveries from our 2024 expedition,” Tomasina Ray, RMS Titanic, Inc. director of the collection, said in a news release. “The discovery of Diana’s statue was an exciting moment. But we are saddened by the loss of the iconic bow railing and other evidence of decay which has only strengthened our commitment to preservation. Titanic’s Legacy.”

The statue was discovered for the first time after 70 years sinking of the titanic, But it was lost until it appeared recently.

“A highlight is the rediscovery of the ‘Diana of Versailles’ bronze statue last seen in 1986, an artifact that most experts feared was lost forever. There is now a clear, updated image of this remarkable piece of art thanks to the efforts of RMS Titanic, Inc.’s researcher James Penka and the expedition’s data scientist,” the release said.

“This breakthrough was accompanied by an even more unsettling revelation: a significant portion of the railing around Bow’s forecastle deck has fallen from the port side prow where it stood as recently as 2022. This change irrevocably alters one of Titanic’s most recognized and symbolic scenes. “

After reviewing the 3D photos, the team determined that the ship’s railing was lying on the ocean floor and had collapsed in one piece.

“Although the Titanic’s collapse was inevitable, this evidence reinforces our mission to preserve and document what we can before it’s too late,” the team said.

In 1912, the Titanic hit An iceberg and drowned. The ship was not discovered until 1985 in the Atlantic Ocean.
