After Kolkata and Maharashtra, now Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao police has also been accused of hiding the incident of rape of a minor. This allegation has been made on Unnao police by the chairperson of Child Welfare Committee (CWC). On the other hand, Samajwadi Party has also tried to corner the Yogi government by writing a post on social media regarding this matter.
In fact, a 15-year-old girl from a village in Sadar Kotwali area, along with her 13-year-old brother, roams around the court and sells paan masala and water pouches to make a living. Her mother has passed away. Her father is always drunk. Both the siblings lived with their elder sister in a rented house in a locality near the court. But, the elder sister also died a month ago.

After this, both of them did not have money to pay the house rent. So both the brother and sister used to leave the house and sleep outside the shops that closed at night around the SP office. On August 17, the brother and sister slept on a bench outside Shailendra Singh’s tea shop near the wall of the SP office. Then Shailendra Singh, a resident of Kevata Talab, raped her.
Police arrested the accused 3 days later on Saturday
On the basis of the victim’s complaint, the police registered a case on August 20, three days after the incident, and after getting the teenager’s medical examination done, the accused was arrested and sent to jail on Saturday. The police did not inform the media or the child welfare committee about this. The police let the minor victim go as it was. Now when the child welfare committee came to know about this incident from its sources, CWC president Preeti Singh has said that the police has hidden the incident.
CWC President said this in the matter
CWC President Preeti Singh said that on Saturday a lawyer from the court called her and told her that two innocent children were lying ill near the court. Some incident has happened with them. They are afraid that such an incident may happen with them in the future. On this, I brought the children to my child protection officer and questioned him. Then it came to light that tea seller Shailendra Singh had raped a 15-year-old girl.
The police did not tell them about this incident and kept it hidden. Whereas the rule is that within 24 hours of any incident happening with a minor, he should be presented before the Child Welfare Committee and his statement should be recorded. But the police did not do so and have not said anything about it yet. The children have been handed over to their families. Further departmental action will be taken as soon as the office opens on Tuesday.

At the same time, Samajwadi Party has also tried to corner the Yogi government by posting on social media. SP wrote a post on social media and wrote that Yogi ji, do you have any shame left? At the same time, the police is avoiding saying anything in this matter.
