A flood warning has been issued for the New Orleans area as the storm threatens the Gulf Coast

National Weather Service Flash flood warnings were issued for parts of Louisiana on Thursday, as a storm system threatened the Gulf Coast with heavy rain that could last through the weekend, forecasters said.

By late Thursday morning, two to five inches of rain had fallen in the past 24 hours around New Orleans, and flood watches extended from East Texas to Mississippi.
