A family was destroyed in one stroke, wife and son along with the crew members lost their lives in Nepal plane crash

18 people lost their lives in a plane crash at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal on Wednesday morning. The Saurya Airlines plane carrying 19 passengers from Kathmandu to Pokhara met with an accident soon after take-off. Videos of this accident have also surfaced. There were a total of 19 people on board this plane, out of which only one pilot could be saved. Now it has come to light that three people of the same family have died in this accident.

3 people of the same family lost their lives

In a statement issued by the airlines, it has been said that flight maintenance staff Manuraj Sharma was travelling with his wife Preeja Khatiwada and four-year-old son Adhiraj Sharma in the crashed plane. All three have died in this accident. According to the statement, Preeja was also a government employee and was working as an assistant computer operator in the Ministry of Energy. Let us tell you that 17 of the people killed in the accident were staff of Saurya Airlines.

A pilot’s life was saved

In this crash, 37-year-old Captain M R Shakya survived and was rescued from the crash site. He is being treated in the hospital. It is being told that the plane was a Bombardier CRJ-200ER which was built in the year 2003. This plane was being taken for repair. The airlines have said that the plane was going to Pokhara so that its technical inspection could be done after repair. The plane took off from runway 2 and crashed on runway 20.

Why do so many plane accidents happen in Nepal?

This is not a new case of plane crash in Nepal. Many reports of plane crashes have come to light in this country. Many reports suggest that such accidents happen in Nepal due to hilly terrain, weather, lack of new aircraft and infrastructure as well as long-term use of old aircraft. According to the report, about 28 plane crashes have occurred in Nepal in the last 30 years. Let us tell you that earlier in the beginning of the year 2023, 68 people died in a plane crash.
