A Day After Assassination Attempt on Trump, Canadian MP Chandra Arya Warns Politicians About Khalistani Radicals

In the wake of the recent assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, Indian-Canadian Member of Parliament Chandra Arya has issued a stern warning to Canadian politicians about the growing threat of Khalistani extremism.

Assassination Attempt on Trump

The assassination attempt on Trump occurred during his rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024. According to reports, a 20-year-old man named Thomas Matthew Crooks fired multiple shots at Trump from a nearby rooftop, grazing the former president’s ear. Trump described the incident as a “very surreal experience” and said he was “not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead.”

The shooting has sparked wild conspiracy theories on social media, with some claiming the attack was an “inside job.”[3] However, investigators have so far revealed little about the shooter’s motive.

Arya’s Warning to Canadian Politicians

In the aftermath of the assassination attempt, MP Chandra Arya took to social media to call on Canadian politicians to take a firm stand against Khalistani extremism. Arya stressed the need for Canadian leaders to publicly condemn the celebration of violence by Khalistani supporters, particularly their glorification of the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Arya referenced a recent incident where Khalistani supporters in Canada put up posters depicting the assassination of Indira Gandhi, complete with bullet holes and her Sikh bodyguards turned assassins holding guns.[5] The MP warned that such actions are attempts to “instil fear of violence in Hindu-Canadians” and could potentially lead to “something real” if left unchallenged.

Concerns Over Khalistani Activities in Canada

Arya’s warning comes amid growing concerns over the activities of Khalistani radicals in Canada. In the past year, there have been several incidents of Khalistani supporters organizing parades and protests celebrating the assassination of Indira Gandhi, as well as vandalizing Hindu temples with anti-India graffiti.

The MP also recalled the 1985 Air India bombing, which was carried out by Canada-based Khalistani terrorists and remains the largest mass killing in Canadian history.[4] Arya stated that the ideology responsible for this terrorist attack is “still alive among few people in Canada,” and the recent events demonstrate that “dark forces have been energised again.”

As the threat of Khalistani extremism continues to loom large, MP Chandra Arya’s call for Canadian politicians to take a firm stand against such activities is a timely and necessary warning. The glorification of violence and the targeting of Hindu-Canadians must be condemned and addressed urgently to prevent further escalation of tensions and potential violence.
