In Bihar’s Hajipur, the vehicle of devotees going for Jalabhishek came in contact with a high tension wire, due to which eight devotees died due to electric shock. The villagers accused the electricity department of negligence for this incident and when the SDM and police officers reached the spot, the villagers created a ruckus.
This accident happened in Sultanpur of Hajipur Industrial Police Station area. Here, in the month of Saavan, the village boys used to go to the nearby Hariharnath temple every Monday to perform Jalabhishek. On Sunday night too, the boys had gone out for Jalabhishek. These boys had also arranged for DJ on the tractor-trolley for the Yatra.
Due to the uneven road of this village, the tractor trolley came in contact with the high tension line passing above the road. Due to the current, the boys riding on the trolley got burnt and many got caught in the current during the chaos. Due to this, 8 people died on the spot.

As soon as the news of this accident spread, SDM along with a large police force reached the spot, the local people created a ruckus and started a riot. The local people alleged that the negligence of the electricity department was the reason for the accident and despite continuous information after the accident, the electricity department did not take any action and neither did it cut the power on time. Even after the arrival of police and administrative officials, the bodies of the deceased remained on the spot till late night.
What did the police say about the incident?
Dharmendra Kumar Paswan, a resident of the village, said that after this incident happened, we called the electricity workers of the area, but no one picked up the phone. When we talked, they said to tell the police. Eight people have died here. Meanwhile, the in-charge SP of Vaishali said that these people were going to Baba Dham with a DJ. They came in contact with a high tension wire of 11 thousand volts, in which eight people died.
