A 23 cm long and 1.5 kg tumor was removed from the patient’s stomach… The surgery lasted for 3 hours, there was a risk of a blood vessel bursting

A team of doctors at Indore’s Index Medical College and Hospital Research Center successfully removed a 23 cm (1.5 kg) tumor from a woman’s body in a very difficult operation. The 41-year-old female patient is originally from Indore. She was suffering from stomach pain for the last one year. She was consulted by doctors several times but was not getting any relief and she became weak and started eating and drinking less.

At Index Medical College and Hospital Research Center, Dr. Anita Inani Maheshwari conducted various tests on the patient including sonography, MRI, blood. The report showed that the patient had a 21 by 19 by 12 cm tumor in his stomach, which was stuck to the kidney and the thick blood vessel, which supplies blood directly to the heart. After an operation of about 3 hours, the 23 cm tumor was removed from the patient’s stomach without blood loss. The patient’s kidney and thick blood vessel were also saved from bursting. Now the patient is completely healthy.

Less than 1 percent of tumors occur in this part of the body
Dr. Anita Inani Maheshwari said that she has been doing surgery cases for 24 years but such complex tumors are rarely found. Till now, tumors less than 15 cm and weighing 700 to 800 grams have been found in this part of the body. Broad ligament fibroid tumor is found in less than 1 percent of patients in this part of the body. At Index Hospital, our team successfully performed a free operation on this rarest benign tumor of 23 cm and 1.5 kg found in the world.

The doctor said that this tumor also poses a threat to the patient’s life. Sometimes it can turn into a cancerous tumor. Due to being attached to the main organs of the body including the large intestine, kidneys, ureter and the veins supplying blood to the heart, the risk of the vein bursting is high. In these conditions, performing this surgery is quite complicated.

In this complex operation, Dr. Anita Inani along with Dr. Priyanka Rathore, Dr. Gaurav Saxena, Urologist Dr. Nilesh Guru PG Dr. Urvija, Dr. Ashwini, Dr. Shilpi and the anesthesia team were involved. Index Group Chairman Suresh Singh Bhadoria and Vice Chairman Mayankraj Singh Bhadoria also praised the team of doctors for successfully performing the complex operation.
