Kanwar Yatra controversy

Kanwar Yatra controversy.

Kanwar Yatra controversy, The nameplate controversy regarding the Kanwar Yatra has not completely subsided and a new controversy has arisen. In Haridwar, the district administration has covered the mosques and tombs on the Kanwar Yatra route with tarpaulin and curtains of cloth used for setting up tents. Protests have started against this. Muslim organizations say that they were not even consulted in this regard.

Let us tell you, recently the Uttar Pradesh government had ordered the hotel operators and Dhaba owners on the Kavad Yatra route to write their names in front of their shops. After this, a similar order was issued by the Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments. The matter reached the Supreme Court, after which the court put an interim stay on this order.

Now the mosque and the tomb are covered with tarpaulin and tents

Now the Haridwar district administration has covered the mosques and tombs on the Yatra route with tarpaulin and curtains of cloth used for setting up tents. A big tarpaulin has been put up on the gate of the mosque located in Ramnagar Colony of Jwalapur and the tomb near Durga Chowk. Earlier, mosques and tombs were never covered during the Kanwar Yatra. Shakeel Ahmed, the manager of the tomb located in Jwalapur, said that no one was talked to him in this regard. He said that Kanwariyas have been passing through here for many decades, they rest in the shade of the tree outside the tomb and drink tea etc. Ahmed said that he does not know why this was done this time.

The cabinet minister gave this answer

In this case, administrative officials were seen avoiding talking to the media. However, the state’s Tourism and Religious Affairs Minister Satpal Maharaj said that mosques and tombs have been covered to ensure that the Kanwar Yatra is conducted in an orderly manner. He said, some things are prohibited to avoid any problems. Mosques and tombs have been covered so that there is no provocation on the Kanwar route. In this regard, Congress leader and former District Panchayat President Rao Afaque Ali said that the administration’s decision to cover mosques and tombs is surprising. Ali said that this has never happened before and some Kanwariyas keep visiting mosques as well. He said that India is a country where everyone takes care of every religion and caste.
