After the case of illegal extortion by policemen from trucks coming from Bihar on the Bihar-UP border in Ballia, UP came to light, everyone from constables to SPs have been punished. CM Yogi took swift action and removed the ASP and SP from their posts while many constables from the CO have been suspended.
Mathematics of black money of 1.5 crore rupees every month
Now the entire math of extortion that has come to light after the raid in this case will surprise you. Every night around 1000 trucks used to pass through this UP-Bihar border in Ballia and Rs 500 was illegally collected from the driver of each truck as the price for crossing the border. According to this, the policemen used to earn black money of Rs 5 lakh in just one day. If we look at this extortion on a monthly basis, then the policemen of Ballia were collecting Rs 1.5 crore every month.

This extortion scandal in Ballia was exposed when ADG and DIG jointly raided the Bharouli check post after receiving complaints of continuous extortion by the policemen. During this, two policemen were arrested on the spot while extorting money from trucks. Along with them, 16 middlemen involved in extortion were also caught.
Revealed in DIG’s raid
Regarding this matter, DIG (Azamgarh Range) Vaibhav Krishna said that ADG Zone Banaras and I raided a police post on Bihar-UP border near Bharosi Tiraha in Narhi police station area in plain clothes. Policemen were involved in extortion from the trucks coming there. He said that these people (accused policemen) used to collect Rs 500 per vehicle and about a thousand trucks used to pass through there every night.

Yogi government removed SP and ASP from their posts
After the case came to light, the state government has suspended the entire Korantadih outpost. According to the information, the accused policemen used to extort money from those smuggling liquor, cattle and red sand on the UP-Bihar border. After the case of policemen being involved in the illegal extortion racket came to light, CM Yogi took immediate action and removed the SP and ASP of Ballia from their posts. Now IPS Vikrant Veer has been made the new police captain of Ballia.

At the same time, orders have been given for a vigilance inquiry into the property of the CO, SHO and Chowki Incharge who are among the accused policemen involved in the extortion case. Constable Hardayal Singh was arrested from the spot during the raid after which the entire racket came to light.
In this case of illegal extortion, a case has been registered against the Narhi police station in-charge, outpost in-charge (Karantadih) in which a total of 7 policemen have been made accused. The investigation of this case has been given to the ASP of Azamgarh. After being found guilty in the initial investigation, Narhi police station in-charge Pannalal and outpost in-charge (Karantadih) Rajesh Prabhakar have been suspended.

10 constables suspended
Head constable Chandrajit Yadav, Aurangzeb Khan, constable Parvind Yadav, Satish Gupta, Pankaj Yadav, Gyanchand, Dharamvir Patel, Narhi’s night officer sub-inspector Mangala Prasad, head constable Vishnu Yadav, constable Haridayal Singh, Deepak Mishra, Balram Singh, Udayvir, Prashant Singh, driver Omprakash and 10 other constables have been suspended. The residences of the constables involved in extortion have also been sealed.
