When Rajiv’s dream was shattered
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Rajeev talked about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s incomplete film ‘Chenab Gandhi’. He said that he waited for 9 months for this film. After waiting for months, the makers told him that the film is not being made. Rajeev says- I was not very excited about the fact that I was doing Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film. I went to meet Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I was in a look at that time. So he liked that look very much.

‘This is from 2009. Their contract was very tight. When I met Sanjay Leela Bhansali, he kept talking to me for hours. He was looking for a character in me for the film. I had one condition. I told him that Sir, the day you tell me that Rajiv I want you in the film, then only I will accept the script from you. After reading the script, if I like it, I will say yes, if I don’t like it, then I will say no.’

The actor’s pain spilled out
Rajiv further says that ‘I told him my wish without any hesitation. After 15-16 days, he told me that Rajiv, I have got my character. Tell me when do you want the narration. Vibhu Puri was the writer of the film. I was shocked to hear that narration. I said that I have never heard such a good script before. Leave everything else. Bachchan sahab and Vidya Balan were in the film. I felt that now this film should not go out of my hands. Because Sanjay Leela Bhansali is making it and complete justice will be done to the film.’

‘We also did a poster photoshoot with Vidya. When I was told that this film is not happening, I said that this happens to everyone. I felt bad that I was not told that the film is not being made. As soon as I came to know, I moved on and did not complain to anyone. I did not feel any depression. I even asked why the film is not being made, but I was not told.’

However, now he has forgotten this and moved on.
