Tourism increased, law and order improved and… these changes came in Jammu and Kashmir after the removal of Article 370

After the removal of Article 370, the law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved. Also, the number of foreign tourists has increased by 2.5 times. This was said by the Home Ministry in response to a question asked in the Rajya Sabha.

According to the data provided by the Home Ministry, not a single incident of stone pelting has taken place in Jammu and Kashmir between 2023 and 15 July 2024. Whereas in 2018, 1328 incidents of organized stone pelting were reported. At the same time, the number of incidents carried out by terrorists has also decreased. In 2018, 228 incidents were carried out by terrorists, whereas in 2023, 46 incidents took place and till 15 July 2024, 11 incidents of terror have taken place.

According to the Home Ministry, 189 encounters took place in Jammu and Kashmir in 2018, 48 in 2023 and 21 till 15 July 2024. 91 security personnel were martyred in 2018, 30 in 2023 and 10 till 15 July 2024. Along with this, in different incidents, while 55 civilians were killed in 2018, 14 civilians were killed in 2023 and 14 till 15 July 2024.

In the last four years, schools, colleges, universities, hospitals and other public institutions have been functioning smoothly without any strike or any kind of disturbance. The people of Jammu and Kashmir participated enthusiastically in the recently held Lok Sabha elections with record voting. Due to the improvement in the law and order situation, 2.11 crore tourists arrived in Jammu and Kashmir in 2023. The number of foreign tourists has increased by 2.5 times.
