Why did Nitish backtrack from his demand for a ‘special state’? Know why the opposition is accusing Bihar CM of fearing arrest

Last Updated on 25/07/2024 by Ankita Jain

The most important thing about the budget presented by the central government on Tuesday was the kindness of the Modi government towards Andhra Pradesh and Bihar. A huge amount was announced for both the states. On one hand, the opposition is calling it a ‘Save Government Budget’, while on the other hand, the NDA including TDP and JDU are calling it a revolutionary budget. Meanwhile, the opposition is accusing Nitish Kumar that why is Nitish Kumar happy with this package when he was ready to protest for getting the status of a special state. Regarding this, the opposition says that in fact, Nitish Kumar is working under the pressure of BJP and he is afraid of going to jail. Now let us know what is the allegation of the opposition?

Is Nitish Kumar afraid of any investigation?

In fact, RJD, Congress and Left leaders claim that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is under pressure after the ED raid on his close officer. The opposition alleges that Nitish himself has come under pressure due to the investigation agency’s grip on his close officials and that is why he has started backing down on the demand for special state status.

Opposition leaders allege that Nitish kept mum on the demand for a special state for fear of being caught in the heat of the investigation. The opposition alleges that Nitish is surrendering on the special state due to a close officer coming under the radar of the ED. In fact, the ED team has raided the locations of Sanjeev Hans, Principal Secretary of the Energy Department in Bihar. Sanjeev Hans is said to be a close officer of Nitish Kumar. The opposition alleges that there are many other officers who are under the scrutiny of the investigating agency. According to the opposition, Nitish Kumar is now coming under pressure due to his relations with these officers.

RJD MLA made these allegations

RJD MLA Mukesh Roshan said that the central government is pressurizing Nitish. To scare Nitish, they are targeting officers like Sanjeev Hans, who have many allegations against him. He said that BJP knows very well that Nitish Kumar will create trouble in Delhi. ED raided Sanjeev Hans so that he cannot do this. He said that the day Nitish will insist on his demand, BJP will put him in jail. That is why he is backing down.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA Sanjay Tiwari said that BJP is blackmailing Nitish Kumar. Sometimes at Sanjeev Hans’ place and sometimes somewhere else. They want to keep him under pressure by sending ED.

The term minimum support price is also discussed

After this budget, the term minimum support price is also being discussed a lot. But this support price is linked to politics. Actually, usually the minimum support price is the money that farmers get in exchange for their crops as decided by the government. But after this budget, the minimum support price that is being discussed in politics means Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu, i.e. the big gift that their state has received in exchange for their support to the Modi government.

Nitish

Why is it being called the government’s minimum support price budget

NDA has a total of 293 seats in Lok Sabha. That is, 21 seats more than the majority number of 272. But Nitish Kumar has the support of 12 seats and Chandrababu Naidu has 16 seats with NDA. That is, a total of 28 seats. The remaining 12 and allies together support 25 seats. Most of these parties have only one or two seats. Now allegations are being made that these announcements have been made for majority and the second allegation is the old history of Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu.

Chandrababu and Nitish’s past is also the reason for this ‘gift’

Nitish Kumar has had differences with BJP about 6 times between 2009 and 2022. Chandrababu Naidu’s party has even brought a no-confidence motion against the NDA government in March 2018. At that time too, Chandrababu Naidu had a government in Andhra and Naidu had withdrawn support from the central government demanding special state status and package for his state.

Nitish and Naidu are happy with this budget

Even though the Centre has rejected Nitish Kumar’s demand to give Bihar the status of a special state, Nitish Kumar looked happy after the special package given to Bihar. He said that many important announcements have been made in the budget. It is hoped that the remaining ones will be completed in the future. Chandrababu Naidu also said that today India has the right leader at the right time and his name is Narendra Modi.
