A case has been registered against a man in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra for raping a woman on the pretext of marriage. A woman from Mumbai has accused the accused of raping her. Not only this, a case has also been registered against two women for threatening the victim.

Giving information about this, a police officer told PTI that along with the main accused, a case has also been registered against two women, as they abused and threatened the victim over the phone and asked her not to marry the accused.

The police officer said that the incident came to light when the 25-year-old victim lodged a complaint at the Chiplun police station against the accused, who raped her by making false promises of marriage. He said that the case has been transferred to Nehru Nagar police station in central Mumbai with a zero FIR.

According to the complainant woman, a common friend of her father was looking for a groom for his daughter in the year 2022. During that time, the victim came in contact with the accused Aditya Parab. After meetings of both the families, the victim decided to marry Parab, who worked in a private company in Brazil, who returned home to India in August 2023.

After returning home, talks of their marriage resumed, but he did not make any promise to the victim and her family members citing various reasons. When the victim was at the accused’s house on July 5, he had physical relations with her. Not only this, the next day both of them went to Guhagar in Ratnagiri district, where they stayed at a resort. There too, they had physical relations.

However, on returning to Mumbai, suddenly the accused Parab started avoiding the victim. He also tried to postpone the marriage citing his training and debt burden as the reason, he said. When the victim realised that she had been deceived, she approached the police and lodged a rape complaint against the man, the officer said. Now the police are taking further action in this case.
