According to the information received, the incident of robbing Rs 42.50 lakh from two employees of jeweler Jaipal Kumar happened on the night of 22 June. Actually, Avinash and Dhananjay, employees of Jaipal Kumar’s firm, were going from Bhullanpur to Kolkata by bus with Rs 93 lakh on the day of the incident. Meanwhile, a uniformed police inspector and two people in plain clothes stopped the bus on the highway in Ramnagar police station area around 12 o’clock at night. Then, claiming to be from the Crime Branch, they took Avinash and Dhananjay off the bus and made them sit in a car without number plate. Cash recovered from the accused

On being released, the victims told the owner Jaipal Kumar that the alleged crime branch people had taken away Rs 42 lakh 50 thousand from the bag. When the uproar increased, on the instructions of Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal, the Commissionerate’s SOG started investigating. With the help of CCTV, call details and surveillance of Ramnagar police station area, one accused was caught. During interrogation, the name of Inspector Surya Prakash Pandey came up. On which the inspector and his other companion were also taken into custody.

The bus was stopped as per planning

Nilesh Yadav, Mukesh Dubey alias Honey and Yogesh Pathak alias Sonu Pathak were also involved in this incident. This crime was executed in a planned manner. In the robbery incident, first a person named Ajay Gupta was made to sit in the bus from Bhullanpur stand with an illegal pistol. Then the bus was stopped near Kataria Petrol Pump and the money was looted from the businessman’s man. Sub Inspector Surya Prakash Pandey had stopped the bus in uniform and helped in carrying out the robbery.

Revealing the incident, DCP Kashi Gaurav Bansal said that with the help of CCTV footage and CDR, the names of the accused have come to light, which includes a sub-inspector and his role is also suspicious. Apart from the three people arrested in the robbery incident, there are three more accused who are absconding. Out of the looted Rs 42 lakh, about 8 lakh has been recovered and apart from two weapons, live cartridges have also been recovered.

The DCP said that the robbers’ modus operandi was that they would rob only half the amount from the businessman so that he could not complain to the police. For example, in this case, out of a total of 93 lakh rupees, only 42 lakh rupees were robbed. All the robbers used to say that they were from the crime branch and that they had illegal and suspicious things which needed to be searched. Sub-inspector Surya Prakash was in constant touch with the robbers and was in touch even on the day of the incident. At present, further investigation is still going on.
