Politics of changing names started in Odisha too, BJP government changed the name of ‘Biju Patnaik Khel Samman’

Odisha government changed the name of Biju Patnaik Sports Award.

Odisha News: After the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Odisha, the process of changing the names of schemes has started here too. The BJP government of the state has changed the name of Biju Patnaik Sports Award to Odisha State Sports Award. The Odisha Sports and Youth Services Department has also issued guidelines in this regard. This award will be given in eight categories every year and this award will depend on the availability of suitable candidates. No change has been made in the cash prize amount.

According to the guidelines, a cash prize of Rs three lakh will be given as lifetime achievement award for promotion of sports, while Rs two lakh will be awarded for outstanding performance in sports and Rs one lakh for excellence in ‘coaching’. Similarly, a cash prize of Rs one lakh each will be given for best contribution in promotion of sports, excellence in sports journalism, best para-sportsperson of the year, best emerging athlete of the year (junior category) and best sports technical official or support staff of the year.

These are the rules for state sports award

According to the rules, the awardee should be a resident of Odisha and should not have any criminal case registered against him. This award will be given only once in a lifetime in each category and it can be given posthumously to the nearest relative. The Secretary of the Sports and Youth Services Department will constitute a five-member screening committee, which will include senior officers and coaches of the department and the Director of Sports or the senior-most officer of the department will be the chairman of this committee. These awards will be given every year on August 29 at a special function on the occasion of National Sports Day.

Names of many schemes have changed

Let us tell you, the BJP government is planning to rename many popular schemes of the previous Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government including LAACMI (Location Accessible Multi-Modal Initiative) rural bus service, Mo Bus city service and Aahar (five rupees per meal scheme).
