Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin may soon promote his son and state Youth Welfare and Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin to the post of Deputy Chief Minister. Sources said that Udhayanidhi will be made Deputy Chief Minister before Chief Minister Stalin leaves for the US visit on August 22. Stalin was appointed Deputy Chief Minister in 2009 when Stalin’s father M. Karunanidhi was the Chief Minister. After this, Stalin emerged as a big leader in Tamil Nadu politics.

DMK sources said that Udhayanidhi Stalin could be the face of the party in the 2026 assembly elections. DMK party cadres and leaders want Udhayanidhi to be promoted as Deputy Chief Minister. They believe that this move can benefit the party in the 2026 assembly elections. After the Lok Sabha election results were announced, there were preparations to appoint Udhayanidhi as Deputy Chief Minister, but due to the Kallakurichi liquor tragedy, DMK and Stalin postponed the plan to make their son Udhayanidhi the Deputy Chief Minister. 65 people lost their lives in the Kallakurichi liquor tragedy. At the same time, Udhayanidhi Stalin has also made controversial remarks against Sanatan Dharma.

Let us tell you, in this case a case was filed against four persons including Udhayanidhi Stalin, program coordinator and three others. The High Court had already issued an interim stay order against taking criminal action. Udhayanidhi Stalin had said in a conference in September 2023 that Sanatan Dharma is against social justice and equality and should be abolished. This statement was strongly criticized by people from various sections.
