India Announces 100+ Athlete Contingent for Paris Olympics 2024

India is sending a strong contingent of over 100 athletes to compete across 16 sports at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

Some key events and timings for Indian athletes include:

Archery

  • Men’s and Women’s Individual and Team events from July 25 to August 4, starting at 1 PM IST

Athletics

  • Track and field events from August 1 to August 11, starting at 11 AM IST
  • India’s medal hopes include javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and race walkers Priyanka Goswami and Akshdeep Singh

Hockey

  • India’s men’s hockey team qualified after winning gold at the 2022 Asian Games
  • They will play their first match against Ireland on July 26 at 4:45 PM IST

Shooting

  • India secured quotas in every Olympic shooting category for the first time
  • Top shooters like Manu Bhaker, Elavenil Valarivan, and Saurabh Chaudhary will represent India

Other Sports

  • India will also field athletes in badminton, boxing, equestrian, judo, rowing, sailing, swimming, table tennis, tennis, weightlifting, and wrestling

The matches at the Paris Olympics will start as early as 11:30 AM IST and go on till 2:30 AM IST the next day. Jio has the broadcasting rights in India, with live coverage on Sports 18 channels and streaming on Jio Cinema.

India will be aiming to improve upon their record-breaking performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where they won 7 medals including a historic gold in men’s javelin throw.
