UK Mobility Visa: Eligibility and Application Process

The UK Mobility Visa, also known as the Youth Mobility Scheme visa, allows young people aged 18-30 from certain countries to live and work in the UK for up to 2 years. This visa is available to applicants from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea, and several other participating countries.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the UK Mobility Visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be between the ages of 18 and 30 (or 35 for applicants from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and South Korea)
  • Be a national of a participating country (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea, Andorra, Iceland, Japan, Monaco, San Marino, or Uruguay)
  • Have at least £2,530 in your bank account to show you can support yourself in the UK
  • Not have any children under 18 who live with you or are financially dependent on you
  • Not have previously been in the UK under the Youth Mobility Scheme

If you are from Hong Kong or Taiwan, you must also be selected in the Youth Mobility Scheme ballot before you can apply for the visa .

Applying for the UK Mobility Visa

To apply for the UK Mobility Visa, you must follow these steps:

  1. Apply online for the visa. You can save your application and complete it later if needed .
  2. Prove your identity by either having your fingerprints and photograph taken at a visa application center or using the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app to scan your identity document .
  3. Pay the visa application fee of £298 and the immigration health surcharge .
  4. Submit your visa application, pay the required fees, and provide your biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) within 90 days of being selected in the ballot (if applicable) .

If you have a child while in the UK, they do not automatically become a British citizen. You can apply online for their visa as your dependent .
