The Chilling Prelude to the Trump Rally Shooting
Ammunition Stockpile and Shooting Range Visit
In the 48 hours leading up to the deadly shooting at the Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, the 20-year-old suspect, Thomas Matthew Crooks, made some disturbing preparations.
On the day of the shooting, Crooks told his father that he wanted to go to the gun range. He then purchased 50 rounds of ammunition, indicating he was planning a violent attack.
This ammunition stockpile, combined with Crooks’ visit to the shooting range, suggests he was methodically preparing for the assassination attempt on the former president.
Motive Remains Unclear
Authorities are still investigating Crooks’ motive for the attack. The FBI stated they “do not currently have an identified motive” and that the inquiry could last for months as they work to uncover what drove the 20-year-old to commit this act of political violence.
