Manish Sisodia news: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice on the bail plea of senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia in the liquor scam. A bench headed by Justice BR Gavai issued notice to the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and asked them to file their reply in the case by July 29.

The court said, reply to the notice by July 29. We will consider it again after two weeks. Sisodia’s lawyer argued that the senior AAP leader has been in jail for 16 months and the case is not moving forward. Let us tell you, in its decision on October 30 last year, the Supreme Court refused to grant bail to Sisodia, but said that if the trial progresses at a slow pace in the next three months, he can apply for bail afresh.

Bail was not granted even by High Court and lower court

On the other hand, on April 30, the Rouse Avenue Court refused to grant bail to Sisodia, who was seeking regular bail for the second time. While refusing bail, the trial court order said that the delay in the proceedings of the case was largely due to Sisodia. After this, the Delhi High Court refused to grant bail to Sisodia, saying that he did not fulfill the triple test and the dual conditions required under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002 for granting bail in a corruption case. Challenging this, Sisodia filed a petition in the Supreme Court.

The judge recused himself from the hearing

Last month, during the hearing on Sisodia’s plea in the apex court, Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta had said that the final chargesheet/complaint in the liquor policy case would be filed by July 3. Let us tell you that recently Supreme Court judge Justice Sanjay Kumar had recused himself from hearing Sisodia’s bail plea. Sisodia was arrested in February last year.
