Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old gunman who allegedly shot and wounded former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania, was briefly featured in a 2022 commercial for the investment firm BlackRock.
The ad, which was produced in 2022, was filmed at Bethel Park High School, where Crooks was a student at the time. BlackRock has since removed the ad as a gesture of respect towards the victims and is cooperating with authorities by providing all video material.
In addition to Trump, who sustained injuries but is now safe, three other individuals were also hurt in the incident. Pennsylvania residents Dutch and Copenh are in stable condition, as per state police reports. Unfortunately, Corey Comperatore from Sarver, Pennsylvania, succumbed to injuries during the attack.
BlackRock expressed abhorrence towards the assassination attempt on Trump and emphasized the importance of unity and civility in the nation. The company firmly denounced all forms of political violence and pledged to contribute to fostering harmony in the society.

The advertisement came to light through Laura Loomer, a right-wing activist, and former Republican congressional candidate. The incident sparked various conspiracy theories, with some unfoundedly alleging BlackRock’s involvement in the planning of the assassination attempt.
Separately, BlackRock announced its second-quarter financial results, revealing an 11% increase in profits and an 8% surge in revenue compared to the previous year. The firm now oversees a historic $10.64 trillion in assets for its clients, marking a substantial 13% growth from the previous year.
