Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate Tim Walz His Republican opponent employed him Controversial response In consequence of Georgia school shooting.
Walz made the speech Saturday night while attending the Human Rights Campaign National Dinner—the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organization—in Washington.
Walz took to the stage to highlight his support for his running mate, Kamala Harris (“Yes, by the way, she’s more qualified than anyone who’s ever run for this office, let’s be clear”) along with Jody’s record on queer rights.
“I’m an older, straight, white guy, I teach social studies, you’re all portraying a stereotype here. Turns out I’m against the world Tommy Tuberville However,” he said before describing his involvement with his former school’s gay-straight alliance.
Yet the Minnesota governor used the opportunity to name-check more than Tuberville.
“It’s a fact of life that some people are gay,” Walz said. “But you know what’s not a fact of life? That our children need to be shot in schools. That is not a fact of life.”
Vance told a crowd during a rally in Phoenix, Arizona last week that instead of stricter gun laws, the answer to school shootings is increased security.

“I don’t like that this is a fact of life. But if you’re—if you’re psycho, you want to make headlines, you understand that our schools are soft targets. And we have to increase security in our schools… we have to strengthen security so if some psycho wants to walk through the front door and kill a bunch of kids, they’re not able to,” Vance said.
“If these psychologists are going after our kids, we have to be prepared for that,” Vance said. “We don’t have to like the reality we live in, but it is the reality we live in. We have to face it.”
While the Harris-Wolz campaign was already there Condemned Vance’s comments, Walz used his speech to reiterate, “People have banned books, but it’s okay for them to be weapons of war in our schools. Look, it’s not this country, it doesn’t have to be this way, it doesn’t happen anywhere else, we’re going to make sure our kids show up, they bring their authentic selves, then we’re going to make sure when they get there They are safe when they are, so thank you all,” he said.
Republicans have, however Supported Vance, on his comments, claims the criticism is driven by Democrats with an agenda.
