A video captured by an underwater robot shows scientists scratching their heads. In this video captured in Australia’s Beagle Marine Park, thousands of female sharks are seen sleeping on the seafloor. Scientists don’t quite know what to make of the crazy shark video Researchers describe it As in “thousands of sharks packed tightly like a carpet spread across the ocean floor.”
While the researchers initially only saw that there were thousands of sharks, they later confirmed that the gathering was only female sharks. This has led to some speculation that they may have been feasting on the local delight—doughboy scallops—for sharks in the area before heading north to lay their eggs. However, scientists aren’t really sure what to make of it.

The video of the crazy shark was captured using an underwater robot deployed from a South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) research vessel called MRV. Awful. The robot was controlled by scientists working at the University of Tasmania’s Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS).
Finding so many sharks in one place was certainly surprising, and it left researchers who watched the footage with a few questions. Most notably, they are trying to find out why the gathering consists of only women. If they can find that, they can solve why the sharks congregated there in the first place.

And, it’s not nearly as terrifying Ghost shark Researchers found it off the coast of Thailand.
