CBI report filed in Supreme Court

CBI report on NEET, The CBI has filed its investigation report in the Supreme Court in the NEET case. The investigating agency has submitted the report in a sealed envelope. The Supreme Court can give its verdict on this matter today. 38 petitions had reached the Supreme Court in the NEET paper leak case, on which the bench of Chief Justice of India CJI DI Chandrachud had issued a new date for hearing after a long debate. At the same time, today i.e. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, the Supreme Court can take a big decision on this matter.

What did the Supreme Court say?

The Supreme Court had said that if the sanctity of the medical entrance exam NEET-UG 2024 is destroyed and we are unable to identify the culprits or the question paper is leaked through Telegram, WhatsApp and other electronic means, then it will spread like wildfire. In such a situation, an order will have to be given to conduct the examination again. The apex court had said that it will have to be found out how many candidates have benefited from the question paper leak and what action is the central government taking against them. Also, if it becomes clear at which center the paper has been leaked, then the test will have to be conducted again there.

Demand for fresh examination

In the petitions of the candidates, alleging irregularities in the NEET paper examination, a demand has been made to conduct the examination afresh. Hearing all the 38 applications on July 8, 2024, a bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud in its decision asked many sharp questions to the government regarding the paper leak. After completing the hearing in the case, the court had directed the CBI to file a status report in the matter. The next hearing of this case was fixed on July 11.

The exam may be cancelled if the beneficiary students are not traced

The lawyer appearing on behalf of the students had said in his argument that NTA did not follow the standard SOP. The lawyer told the court that six FIRs have been registered in six states. The Supreme Court said in its comment that one thing is clear that the paper has been leaked but the question is on what scale has it happened? The paper has been leaked, it has been accepted as a fact. CJI Chandrachud asked whether the government is able to trace the beneficiary students? Has any action been taken against such students? The court asked what steps has the government taken to identify the beneficiary students? If it cannot find out about the beneficiary students, then the examination can be canceled.
