Manipur News: Prime Minister should take out some time and come to Manipur, listen to the people… Rahul Gandhi said after meeting the victims of violence

Rahul Gandhi But Manipur:Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Monday visited relief camps in Jiribam and Churachandpur districts of Manipur and interacted with the people living there. After this, he held a press conference and expressed his views on the Manipur violence and said that we, as a Congress party, are ready to support anything to improve the situation here.

Rahul Gandhi said in the press conference, ‘I think it is important that the Prime Minister comes here, listens to the people of Manipur and tries to understand what is happening in Manipur. After all, Manipur is a proud state of the Indian Union… Even if there was no tragedy, the Prime Minister should have come to Manipur. In this big tragedy, I request the Prime Minister to take 1-2 days out of his time and listen to the people of Manipur. This will give relief to the people of Manipur. We, as the Congress Party, are ready to support anything to improve the situation here.’

It is noteworthy that in May last year, ethnic violence broke out between the Meitei and Kuki communities in the state. More than 200 people have died in this. Gandhi, who arrived with senior Congress leaders, talked to the people living in relief camps and listened to their problems. This is the first time Rahul Gandhi has come here after the Congress won both the Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Gandhi first visited Manipur a few weeks after ethnic violence broke out in Manipur on May 3 last year. He also launched his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ from the state in January 2024. The former Congress president first visited the relief camp set up at Jiribam Higher Secondary School.

The state Congress president said that thousands of people came to welcome Gandhi in Jiribam and many of them cried while talking to him. From Jiribam, Gandhi reached Imphal airport via Silchar in Assam and reached a relief camp in Tuibong village of Churachandpur district by road. There too Gandhi interacted with the people. Before returning, Rahul Gandhi is also scheduled to meet Governor Anusuiya Uikey in Imphal.
