Menstrual leave

term leave in India: Should women get leave during periods or not? The matter was heard in the Supreme Court today. The court has refused to give an immediate order on the petition. The court has also asked the central government to make an ideal policy in this regard. Let us tell you, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court demanding leave for women during periods.

While hearing the petition, the bench headed by the Chief Justice said that the Centre should consider making a policy in this matter. And it should be seen whether an ideal policy can be made on ‘period leave’ or not. Along with this, the court asked the petitioner to go to the Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The Chief Justice said that the Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development should consult the Central and State Governments before making a policy on this.

There can be two aspects

While hearing the case, the Supreme Court has said that should women get leave from the workplace during menstruation or not? There can be two aspects to this. First, by coming up with a policy on this, women’s participation in jobs will increase and their share in the workforce will also increase. Second – it is also possible that due to these leaves, people may hesitate in giving jobs to women. The Supreme Court said that in such a situation, all governments should move towards making a policy by discussing it.
