Monsoon: Monsoon is raining heavily from mountains to plains, IMD has issued alert for these states

IMD issued heavy rain alert

monsoon 2024, With the onset of monsoon in the country, heavy rains are occurring in many states. Normal life has been badly affected due to rain in large parts of North India including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, while flood situation persists in Assam. Six more people died on Saturday as the flood situation remained serious in Assam. The major rivers of the state are flowing above the danger mark at many places. About 24 lakh people are affected by the floods. According to the bulletin of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), two people died in Charaideo and one each in Goalpara, Morigaon, Sonitpur and Tinsukia districts due to the devastating floods.

Heavy rains in Assam affected lakhs of people

This year, 72 people have died due to floods, landslides and storms in Assam. According to the bulletin, a total of 2396648 people have been affected by the floods in 29 districts, while 68768.5 hectares of crops have been submerged. A total of 53429 affected people have taken shelter in 577 relief camps. The Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger mark at Nimatighat, Tezpur, Goalpara and Dhubri. Its tributaries are also flowing above the danger mark at many places.

On the other hand, monsoon is raining heavily in Uttarakhand. Rivers are in spate and in the last 24 hours, hundreds of roads across the state have been closed due to landslides and debris. Red and orange alerts for heavy rain have been declared in the state for the next 24 hours. Apart from the hilly areas, it is raining heavily in the plains as well. It is raining in every district from Kumaon to Garhwal.

IMD issued a red alert for rain

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for rain. Schools in 6 districts of Kumaon including Pauri and Rudraprayag have been closed. Heavy rain warning has been issued in Nainital on Saturday night and Sunday. The public has been warned to remain alert and stay away from rivers and streams. Also, an appeal has been made to avoid unnecessary travel. In Delhi, the Meteorological Department has predicted cloudy weather with light rain and the maximum temperature is likely to be around 33 degrees Celsius. Due to heavy rains in Bihar in the last 24 hours, the rivers and streams of the state are in spate, while the water level of many rivers including Kosi has crossed the danger mark at various places. For Bihar, the Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert till July 8.

Many districts of Uttar Pradesh received heavy rains on Saturday. The capital Lucknow received torrential rains in the evening. An alert has been issued for heavy rains in Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Rampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur and surrounding areas of UP.

IMD said that heavy rain conditions are likely to decrease on 7-8 July and heavy rain is likely at one or two places in north-eastern Rajasthan. After this, rain activities are likely to increase again in eastern Rajasthan from 9-10 July. Similarly, there is a possibility of rain with thunder and storm in Bikaner division of western Rajasthan for the next 2-3 days after noon. Heavy rain with lightning is likely in Bhind, Morena, Betul, Balaghat and Singrauli of Madhya Pradesh.
