The incident happened in the afternoon

Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot said that a woman was rescued safely soon after the building collapsed. He said that the incident happened at around 2:45 pm in the afternoon. The rescue operation is going on as locals claim that some more people may be buried under the debris. He said that the building was constructed in 2016-17.

People lived in five flats

According to the information received, there were 32 flats in the six-storey building, out of which people lived in about five flats. Officials said that most of the people living in this building were people working in factories in this area. He said that when the rescue operation started, we heard the screams of the trapped people. We pulled out a woman from the debris and took her to the hospital.

FIR will be filed

Officials said that the building collapsed in just four to five years, so many questions arise. He said that the corporation had issued a notice regarding the stability of the building. The FSL team is also investigating the matter and trying to find out how this accident happened. He said that after the report comes, an FIR will be registered and action will be taken.
