Kulgam encounter, Security forces have surrounded several terrorists in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir and are conducting an operation. According to the information received so far, 4 terrorists have been killed. One soldier has also been martyred during this operation. Encounters are still going on at two places in Jammu and Kashmir.
Where the encounter is going on
According to the police, after the search and cordon operation was started after two to three terrorists were found hiding in Modergam, firing started between the security forces and the terrorists. Apart from this, an encounter also took place between the terrorists and the security forces in the Frisal Chinnigam area of Kulgam. After which the army surrounded the terrorists at both the places. Kashmir Zone Police said in a post on ‘X’ – “Police and security forces are taking action. More details will be shared later.”
Jawan died during treatment
An Army jawan, who was injured during an encounter between security forces and holed up militants in a village in Kulgam district, was admitted to a hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries, officials said.
There have been several encounters
The area has seen a rise in terrorist activities in recent times. Several encounters have taken place in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Just last month, security forces killed three terrorists in Gandoh area of Doda district.
