ludhiana crime news, Three unknown assailants attacked a Shiv Sena (Punjab) leader with swords in broad daylight on Friday in Ludhiana, Punjab. Giving this information, the police said that the leader was seriously injured in the attack. Two attackers were arrested from Fatehgarh Sahib district a few hours after the incident. Police said that Sandeep Thapar’s security personnel who was present with him at the time of the incident was suspended for negligence in duty.

The video of the attack went viral on social media

Opposition parties have targeted the state government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the law and order situation and demanded his resignation on moral grounds. Police said Sandeep Thapar (58) was attacked when he was leaving the trust’s office near the Civil Hospital after attending a function organised to mark the fourth death anniversary of its founder-president Ravinder Arora. The Sanvedana Trust provides free ambulance service and hearse vans to patients.

The CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media. In the alleged video, the attackers dressed as Nihangs attacked Thapar while he was on his scooter with his security guard sitting behind him. In the video, Thapar is seen talking to the attackers with folded hands when suddenly one of them attacks him with a sword. Passersby can be seen standing at the spot at the time of the incident. In the video, another attacker is seen pushing Thapar’s security guard away. After Thapar fell, the third attacker also started attacking with a sword. Later, two of the accused fled on Thapar’s scooter. Police said that Thapar was immediately rushed to the civil hospital due to head injuries. He was later shifted to a private hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.

Security guard suspended for negligence

Ludhiana Police Commissioner Kuldeep Chahal and Fatehgarh Sahib Senior Superintendent of Police Ravjot Grewal told reporters here that Thapar suffered injuries on his head, hands and legs. Two attackers Sarabjit Singh and Harjot Singh, both residents of Ludhiana, were arrested from Fatehgarh Sahib. Police said the scooter was also recovered from them. According to police, the third attacker Tehal Singh is absconding and raids are being conducted to nab him. Police said a case has been registered in the matter under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). It said Thapar’s security guard was suspended for negligence in duty.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned the attack and demanded the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. BJP’s Punjab unit general secretary Anil Sareen said Mann is not only the chief minister of the state but also holds the home portfolio. He alleged that the law and order situation in the state has gone from bad to worse ever since the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government came to power in Punjab. “There has been an increase in murder and robbery cases and activities of gangsters. As a result, a feeling of insecurity has developed among the people,” the BJP leader claimed. Sareen alleged that the Punjab government has completely failed on the law and order front. He said that in such a situation, the chief minister should take moral responsibility for such incidents and resign.
