Indian players took out a victory parade in an open bus, which reached Wankhede Stadium via Marine Drive, during which lakhs of fans welcomed their team on the way. However, there have also been reports of many fans getting injured during this. According to Mumbai Police, many fans who gathered at Marine Drive in Mumbai for the victory parade of the T20 World Cup winning Indian cricket team on Thursday were injured and some also had trouble breathing.

The crowd was more than necessary – eyewitness

An eyewitness, Ravi Solanki, sharing his experience said, “I was coming from office and I came to know that the Indian team will reach here between 5-6 pm, which did not happen. The crowd was increasing. The police were not able to handle the situation. People suddenly started shouting, after which some people fell on each other. It was very chaotic. No one was there to manage.” The incident happened between 8:15-8:45 pm. The victim, Rishabh Mahesh Yadav, who fainted during the Vijay Parade, said, “The crowd was increasing. I fell and choked. I fainted. I was taken to a nearby hospital, where I was treated. Now I am feeling fine. The crowd was excessive. There was chaos. The police were also not alert.”

Earlier, the Rohit Sharma-led team kicked off with an open-top bus parade from Marine Drive. Fans turned up in huge numbers, danced to the tunes of India’s success and celebrated the arrival of the T20 World Cup-winning team. Throughout the parade, the players were seen raising the coveted trophy high in the air and appreciating the support of their fans. The love of the fans was evident when some of them climbed trees and cheered for the team as the bus passed by.

BCCI presented a cheque of Rs 125 crore to Team India

India’s World Cup winning players distributed balls to the fans present in the stadium. Fans took selfies and also asked for autographs from the cricketers. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials presented a cheque of Rs 125 crore to the T20 World Cup winning Indian team at the Wankhede Stadium here in Mumbai. The entire team stood on the stage along with BCCI officials and received the cheque of Rs 125 crore.
