Hemant Soren again took oath as Chief Minister, a new turn in Jharkhand politics

Hemant was behind bars for the last five months in the alleged land scam case. On June 28, he got bail from Jharkhand High Court and came out of jail. The question was whether he would take over the post of Chief Minister again, the answer to which was found on Wednesday when Champai Soren reached Raj Bhavan and submitted his resignation and staked claim to form the government with Hemant. Now Hemant has once again taken oath as CM.

Governor administered oath to Hemant Soren

Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Hemant Soren as Chief Minister at Raj Bhavan at 5 pm. Congress Party’s Jharkhand unit president Rajesh Thakur had earlier said that this decision was taken in a meeting of alliance partners at Hemant Soren’s residence.

Received invitation to form government

JMM had said on Wednesday that Governor CP Radhakrishnan has invited Hemant Soren to form the government in the state and he will take oath as the Chief Minister on July 7. The JMM-led coalition later decided that Soren will take oath as the Chief Minister today (Thursday) and at 5 pm he resigned from the post of Chief Minister.

Champai had resigned from the post of CM

Champai Soren resigned from the post of Chief Minister on Wednesday and Hemant Soren, who was released on bail in a money laundering case, staked claim to form the government. A delegation of the JMM-led alliance met Governor Radhakrishnan at the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. The delegation led by Hemant Soren included Congress state president Rajesh Thakur, minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Satyanand Bhokta and MLA Vinod Singh. Hemant Soren’s wife and Gandey MLA Kalpana Soren was also part of the delegation.
