In the month of July 2024, there will be three significant Ekadashi observances for Hindus – Yogini Ekadashi, Devshayani Ekadashi, and Kamika Ekadashi. These Ekadashi fasts hold immense religious and spiritual importance, and devotees observe them with great devotion and dedication.

Yogini Ekadashi 2024

Date and Time:

  • Ekadashi Tithi Begins: July 1, 2024 at 10:26 AM
  • Ekadashi Tithi Ends: July 2, 2024 at 08:42 AM
  • Parana Time: July 3, 2024 from 05:12 AM to 07:10 AM
  • Dwadashi End Moment: July 3, 2024 at 07:10 AM

Significance:
Yogini Ekadashi is one of the most sacred Ekadashi fasts, dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe. Devotees who observe this fast with utmost devotion and pure intentions are believed to be freed from the cycle of birth and death, and attain salvation (moksha).

It is believed that those who worship Lord Vishnu regularly and observe this fast are blessed with happiness, prosperity, and all worldly pleasures. The Ekadashi vrat is considered so powerful that it can remove all the sufferings of the devotees, and even grant them a place in Vaikuntha, the abode of Lord Vishnu, after death.

Puja Rituals:

  1. Wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath before starting the puja rituals.
  2. Clean the house and the puja room where the altar will be set up.
  3. Place an idol of Lord Vishnu on a wooden plank.
  4. Light a diya with desi ghee and offer a yellow flower garland.
  5. Offer Tulsi Patra, but never pluck Tulsi on the day of Ekadashi.
  6. Recite the Yogini Ekadashi Katha and chant various mantras dedicated to Lord Vishnu, such as “Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevaye”.
  7. Chant the Krishna Mahamantra 108 times.
  8. Recite the Vishnu Sahasranama to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
  9. In the evening, repeat the process by placing the idol of Lord Vishnu and chanting mantras to seek His blessings.
  10. Offer bhog prasad and then chant the Vishnu aarti.

Devshayani Ekadashi 2024

Significance:
Devshayani Ekadashi, also known as Ashadhi Ekadashi, is one of the most significant Ekadashi observances in the Hindu calendar. This Ekadashi marks the beginning of the four-month period when Lord Vishnu is believed to be in a state of rest or sleep.

During this period, devotees engage in various spiritual and religious activities, such as visiting temples, performing puja, and chanting mantras dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Observing the Devshayani Ekadashi fast is believed to bring immense spiritual and material benefits to the devotees.

Puja Rituals:
The puja rituals for Devshayani Ekadashi are similar to those of Yogini Ekadashi, with a few additional steps:

  3. Light a diya with desi ghee and offer flowers, Tulsi Patra, and other offerings to the Lord.
  4. Recite the Devshayani Ekadashi Katha and chant mantras such as “Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevaye” and “Hare Ram Hare Ram Ram Ram Hare Hare”.
  5. Perform havan rituals, if possible, and donate food, clothes, and other items to Brahmins and the needy.
  6. Visit Lord Vishnu temples and seek His blessings.
  7. Observe a strict fast, avoiding grains, and consume only fruits, vegetables, and milk-based products.

Kamika Ekadashi 2024

Significance:
Kamika Ekadashi, also known as Shravana Shukla Ekadashi, is observed during the Shravana month of the Hindu calendar. This Ekadashi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is believed to be highly auspicious for seeking His blessings and attaining spiritual enlightenment.

Observing the Kamika Ekadashi fast is said to cleanse the mind and body, and help devotees overcome their sins and negative tendencies. It is also believed to grant them prosperity, good health, and a strong connection with the divine.
