Rainy Forecast Prompts Changes to Paola and Louisburg Fireworks Events

A rainy forecast has prompted organizers to move Paola’s annual fireworks display at Lake Miola from July 4 to July 3. The Paola Chamber of Commerce’s Fireworks Spectacular will now take place at Lake Miola on July 3 at 4:30 p.m.

In Louisburg, the Freedom Festival scheduled for July 4 at Lewis-Young Park has been postponed to September 4 and will be rebranded as the Labor Day Celebration Fireworks. The event will feature fireworks along with other festivities.

These changes come as the weather forecast for July 4, 2024, in the Kansas City metro area calls for a possibility of scattered storms in the evening. While it may not be a complete washout, the storms could potentially impact outdoor Independence Day celebrations and fireworks displays across the region.

Residents are advised to stay up-to-date with the latest weather forecasts from local media outlets and to have alternative plans in case of inclement weather on the Fourth of July.
