Narendra Modi Rajya Sabha speech: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scathing attack on the opposition and Congress continued in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. He questioned the opposition’s silence on the misbehavior and beating of women in Sandeshkhali and West Bengal. The Prime Minister said that the selective attitude of the opposition on these incidents is very dangerous. The pictures of Sandeshkhali are terrifying. Women are being beaten openly in Bengal but the opposition people are silent. The PM said that the opposition leaders are keeping their mouths shut on these incidents happening with women in Bengal, which is sad and worrying.

Returning to power for the third time in a row is an ‘unusual’ event

Responding to the discussion on the motion of thanks on the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha, the Prime Minister said that the return of a government to power after being in power for 10 years is an ‘unusual’ event. He said that the next five years of his government are decisive for the fight against poverty. He expressed confidence that the country will emerge victorious in this fight and will also establish the country as the third largest economy in the world. He said, ‘The people of the country have wholeheartedly supported the work done in the last 10 years with unbroken, dedicated and service-oriented work. The people of the country have given their blessings.’

People rejected the politics of illusion

He said, ‘Because they defeated propaganda, the people of the country gave priority to performance, the countrymen rejected the politics of illusion and have stamped victory on the politics of trust.’ Referring to the President’s address, the Prime Minister said that it also contains inspiration and encouragement for the countrymen and in a way, the ‘path of truth’ has also been rewarded. The Prime Minister said that even after the election results came out, some people deliberately turned their backs on it, some people did not understand and those who understood, tried to overshadow this important decision of the people of the country by creating a ruckus.

The country will emerge victorious in the fight against poverty: PM

He said, ‘But I have been seeing for the last two days that defeat is being accepted and victory is also being accepted with a heavy heart.’ Taking a jibe at Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, the Prime Minister said that ever since the results have come, a member of this house has been calling his government ‘one-third government’. Modi said, ‘What can be a bigger truth than that we have completed 10 years, 20 more are left. One-third is done, two-thirds are still left and that is why he is very happy with this prediction.’ The Prime Minister said that the next five years of his government are decisive years for the fight against poverty and this country will emerge victorious in the fight against poverty.

‘Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities will play a big role’

He said, ‘I can say this with great confidence on the basis of the experience of the last 10 years.’ The Prime Minister claimed that India will become the third largest economy of the world in the coming years. He said, ‘When the country becomes the third largest economy of the world, its effect will be felt in every sphere of life. Many opportunities for expansion of development will be available. When this happens, it will not only have a positive effect on every level of India, but it will also have an unprecedented impact in the global environment.’ Modi said, ‘We are seeing the global emergence of new start-ups, new companies in the coming period. Our Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities are also going to play a big role as growth engines.’

Opposition members walked out of the House

During his address, the Prime Minister referred to the decision to celebrate Constitution Day on January 26 and alleged that people ‘walking around’ with a copy of the Constitution in their hands had also opposed this. Opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge, who was present in the House, objected to this and requested the Chair to present his side. However, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar did not pay any attention to this. After this, the opposition members started uproar and sloganeering. The Prime Minister continued his address amidst the uproar. After some time, the opposition members walked out of the House.
