Married to 5 women and proposed marriage to 50… Shocking story of fraud on a matrimonial site

We often get to see, hear and read many stories of cheating on matrimonial sites. But in Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar, a shocking story of marriage and cheating through a matrimonial site has come to light, after knowing which you will be forced to bite your fingers. Here a man trapped five women in his net and married them. Not only this, he was in touch with about 50 girls for marriage.

After the complaint of two women, the police laid such a trap that the cunning criminal got caught in it. After this, the police caught him. The accused has been identified as 34-year-old Satyajit Samal. He used to trap girls by introducing himself as a police officer and blackmail them after marriage and extort lakhs of rupees from them. A car, bike, Rs 2.10 lakh, a pistol and marriage contracts have been recovered from his possession.

Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda said that after receiving separate complaints from two women, the police had formed a team under the leadership of a woman officer. Due to the successful efforts of this team, the accused fraudster could be arrested. During interrogation, the accused has admitted that he had married those two women. Out of his 5 wives, 2 are from Odisha, one each from Kolkata and Delhi.

The police have found out about four of his wives, but information about the fifth one is not yet available. Three bank accounts of the accused have been frozen. He originally hails from Jajpur district of Odisha, but is currently living in Bhubaneswar. He used to target widows and divorced women through matrimonial sites. After promising to marry them, he used to demand cash, bike or car.

When the women asked for their money back, he threatened them with a gun. On checking his mobile phone, the police found that he was chatting with 50 women on a matrimonial site. An investigation was launched against the accused after a woman filed a complaint at the Capital Police Station in February. According to one of the two complainants, she came in contact with Satyajit Samal through a matrimonial site.

After this, they started chatting regularly. After talking for a few days, they started meeting. Then he forced her to have physical relations on the pretext of marriage and asked for money to buy a car. The victim took a personal loan from the bank and bought a car for him worth Rs 8.15 lakh. After this, he also gave her Rs 36 lakh to do business. The accused had taken Rs 8.60 lakh and a bike from the second complainant.

The second victim also took personal loans from various banks to fulfill his demand. The accused lived a luxurious life with the money he cheated. The police officer said that we hope that after the arrest of the accused, more women will come forward, whom he might have cheated. After cheating a woman, he used to flee to Dubai. Then after having fun there for a few days, he used to come back to the country and start looking for his new victim.
