Ladakh Building Collapses: A three-storey building collapsed on a hill slope, 12 people injured

Building collapses in Ladakh, A three-storey building collapsed on a hill slope in Ladakh’s Kargil district in the early hours of Saturday. At least 12 people were injured in this accident. Police officials said that a JCB machine was working near the place where the building collapsed and a large crater was formed due to soil collapse. Rescue operations were started immediately after receiving information about the incident, in which the help of police and army personnel and local volunteers was taken. Five of the injured people have been pulled out from under the debris, including the driver of the JCB machine.

The rescue operation took about 3 hours

Officials said that the incident took place at 3:30 am today in Kabadi Nala area. They said that after the building collapsed, people from nearby houses were evacuated to safer places. Most of the injured were those who lived on rent. They said that it took about three hours for the rescue workers to remove the debris and take out the driver with the help of a JCB machine.

A magisterial probe was ordered into the incident

Rescue operations were launched under the supervision of Kargil’s Ladakh Autonomous Development Council chairman and chief executive councillor Mohammad Zafar Akhun and Kargil’s deputy commissioner Shrikant Balasaheb. “We have taken the incident seriously and a magisterial probe has been ordered. The culprits will be punished,” Shrikant said. He said the administration has decided to form a committee to inspect structures in “highly sensitive areas” of the district. “The committee will also investigate any violations in building regulation laws and identify the culprits,” the official said.
