The long-awaited Sahara India Refund has finally arrived, providing relief to millions of investors who have been waiting for their hard-earned money. The Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies (CRCS) has launched the official Sahara Refund Portal on July 18, 2023, where eligible depositors can claim their refunds online.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the refund, you must have made deposits in one of the following Sahara Cooperative Societies before the specified dates:

  • Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Kolkata (before March 22, 2022)
  • Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Limited, Lucknow (before March 22, 2022)
  • Saharayan Universal Multipurpose Society Limited, Bhopal (before March 22, 2022)
  • Stars Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited, Hyderabad (before March 29, 2023)

The refund will be processed in phases, with the first payment of up to ₹10,000 going to one crore investors who had deposited ₹10,000 or more.

Documents Required

To claim your refund, you will need the following documents[5]:

  • Membership Number
  • Deposit Account Number
  • Aadhaar-linked mobile number (mandatory)
  • Deposit certificates or passbook
  • PAN card (if the claim amount is ₹50,000 and above)

Your Aadhaar card will be used to verify your identity, and your refund will be credited to your Aadhaar-seeded bank account within 45 days of filing your online claim.

How to Check Your Refund Status

To check the status of your refund, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official Sahara Refund Portal at https://mocrefund.crcs.gov.in
  2. Click on “Depositor Registration” and enter the last 4 digits of your Aadhaar card, your Aadhaar-linked mobile number, and the captcha
  3. After registration, click on “Depositor Login” and enter the last 4 digits of your Aadhaar card and your Aadhaar-linked mobile number
  4. Enter the OTP sent to your mobile number to verify your identity
  5. Fill in your personal details and update the details of your deposited money along with the required documents
  6. Submit your claim and note down the reference number for future tracking
