Delhi coaching deaths

Deaths in Delhi coaching centre: The Delhi High Court today heard a PIL on the death of three students at a coaching institute in Rajender Nagar, Delhi. The petition demanded the formation of a high-level committee to investigate the death of UPSC candidates in Delhi. The MCD Commissioner and Delhi Police DCP were present during the proceedings. The lawyer of a petitioner exposed the involvement of a police post in the incident and alleged that Delhi Police may be complicit in the situation.

The court expressed displeasure

The High Court criticized the concerned officials and expressed displeasure over the fact that its orders were not being implemented. Delhi Police replied that if such an impression is being created then we apologize. This impression is due to the press report. On this, the High Court asked Delhi Police to investigate in a scientific manner and advised them not to succumb to any external pressure.

What happened in the court?

During the hearing, the Delhi High Court said, “Are you the police or what? Why did you not seize the file? You should be serious about this matter. You should have taken action yesterday before today’s hearing.” The Delhi High Court said, “We want to know how the children died. Did they die by drowning, waterlogging, electric shock? What was the reason for their death? It would have taken one or two minutes for the basement to fill up. The children could have got enough time to get out of the basement, but what happened? Did the door close? We don’t know.”

On this, Delhi Police said, there are two entrances in the basement. There was a door at the end of the stairs. When the water came in, there were students there. About 20-30 students were present. There was no biometric. Delhi Police said that we will investigate the matter seriously, we will question people and call them for investigation. Delhi Police said that on July 29, we sent a notice to MCD and asked for documents and asked when the drain was last cleaned. We asked them if it was outsourced? Delhi Police said that there were two entry ways in the basement, within a short time the beat officer reached there and at that time the water had reached up to the neck.

The Delhi High Court said that it will transfer the investigation of the case to the CBI. The High Court said that we are raising the questions that would come to anyone’s mind. There are clear lapses in this, it appears that some brotherhood is involved in this. Files have not been seized yet, officials have not been questioned. There is no accountability. Is there no value of people’s lives, there should be some accountability. Some organizations have gone beyond the law.

Delhi High Court said that we had earlier said in the case that we will dissolve MCD, you do not have money to pay salaries to your employees. This case is going on since 2016. We are continuously passing orders but they are not implemented. We had handed over the investigation of illegal construction in Nizamuddin to CBI. Delhi High Court said that a person has just returned from Paris Olympics and his house is being demolished. Action is being taken against innocent people, nothing happens to those who are builders.
