Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remains embroiled in controversies. It is alleged that a scam has been committed in the allotment of plot in exchange of land to his wife. This entire dispute is related to three acres of land. However, Siddaramaiah claims that the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) had acquired the land from him illegally.

Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati had three acres and 16 guntas of land in Kesara village in Mysore district. This land was gifted to her by Parvati’s brother Mallikarjuna. This land was acquired by MUDA and in exchange for this land, Parvati was given plots measuring a total of 38,283 square feet in Vijayanagar area in 2021. These plots are in a prime area of South Mysore. It is alleged that the market value of the Vijayanagar plot is much higher than her original land in Kesara, due to which the BJP has alleged a scam. Parvati was allotted this land during the previous BJP rule.

India Today’s investigation has revealed that this land does not belong to Devaraju but to Manjunath. The owner of this land in Kesuru village is Jawara’s son Ninga who has three sons, Mallaiah, Mylaiah and J. Devaraju.

Revenue records show that on October 29, 1968, Ninga’s eldest son Malaiah and his third son J. Devaraju had relinquished their rights over three acres and 16 guntas of land in Kesuru village to Ninga’s third son Mylairaiah for a mere Rs 300. Thus, Mylairaiah is the sole owner of the land.

After the death of Mylarayya, his children Manjunath and Jamuna became the legal heirs of the land. However, a few years later, Devaraju got Manjunath Swamy and his wife Puttagovaramma to sign on a blank paper on some pretext. Manjunath Swamy alleged that Devaraju cheated him and got the IHR (Inam Holder Register) registered in his name.

Manjunath Swamy claims that MUDA cancelled the IHR in a November 2015 order, which technically cancelled the IHR owned by Devaraju. Thus, Devaraju is not the real owner of the land sold to Mallikarjuna.

questions arising in the case

1. When Devaraj is not the owner of the land then how can he sell the land to Mallikarjuna?
2. Did Mallikarjuna deliberately try to gift the land to Siddaramaiah’s wife as he has the political influence to transfer the litigation land to her?
3. When MUDA cancelled IHR, the real owner of the land should have got alternate land or compensation, then why did Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvati get it?

What is this whole matter?

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been accused of irregularities in the allotment of MUDA land. Siddaramaiah is facing allegations of allotting MUDA land to his wife Parvati. The Governor has sought a report from the government on MUDA. At the same time, BJP is demanding Siddaramaiah to resign and hand over the case to CBI. However, Siddaramaiah rejects these allegations.

In a press conference in Bengaluru, he had told how this land was acquired by his wife Parvati. Siddaramaiah had told that 3.16 acres of land in Kesaru village of Mysore taluk was bought by his brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy. He told that the opposition alleges that this land comes under the PTCL Act, which is wrong. This land was bought by Ninga and Javara in an auction, which became self-acquired property in 1935.

According to Siddaramaiah, since this is a self-acquired property and Ninga was in possession of it since 1935, the land came to Ninga’s third son Devaraju and he became the owner of the property. Devaraju had full right to sell the land. His brother-in-law Mallikarjuna bought this land from Devaraju. This is not a crime. This land was acquired by MUDA. Its first notification was issued in 1992 and the last notification was issued in 1997.

He said that in 1996, Devraju requested the Urban Development Minister regarding this. At that time, there was a committee to investigate the acquisition and denotification of land.

According to Siddaramaiah, in 2004, Devraju sold this land to his brother-in-law Mallikarjuna. In 2010, Mallikarjuna gifted this land to his wife Parvati.

Siddaramaiah claims that in the meantime MUDA made plots here without informing the land owners. MUDA did not even take the consent of the land owners for this. When his wife Parvati came to know about this, she submitted an application to MUDA in 2014 and demanded alternative land, because MUDA had taken their land illegally.
