People stranded in Kedarnath Yatra: The situation has worsened due to heavy rains in the mountainous areas of Uttarakhand. Many people are stranded in Kedarnath and efforts are being made to evacuate them. People from Shivpuri Badarwas of Madhya Pradesh are also stranded in Kedarnath. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia spoke to these devotees. Scindia said – I am here, I will bring everyone down safely, I have spoken to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. Jyotiraditya Scindia spoke to the devotees stranded in Kedarnath due to cloudburst. Rescue work of the stranded people is going on and they are being brought down through helicopters. In the morning, the Union Minister spoke to all the devotees over the phone from his residence, enquired about the well-being of the devotees who were brought down safely and said that he has spoken to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and will bring everyone down safely, you do not worry.

Selected MI17 helicopters were also involved in the rescue operation

On Friday, Indian Air Force’s Chinook and MI17 helicopters were also involved in the rescue operation to evacuate pilgrims stranded on the rain-damaged Kedarnath footpath. Officials said here that 10 pilgrims were airlifted to Gauchar airstrip by MI17 in the morning. Due to heavy rains and cloudburst on Wednesday night, the path was badly damaged at many places including Lyncholi, Bhimbali, Ghodapaav and Rambada.

Helpline number released

Officials said that the district administration has issued two helpline numbers – 7579257572 and 01364-233387 and an emergency number 112 to help the people, by calling on which they can get information about their relatives stranded on the Yatra route. Due to heavy rains, landslides and floods in the Mandakini river, 20-25 meters of the road was washed away in Bhimbali on the Gaurikund-Kedarnath walking route, due to which devotees got stranded there. However, officials said that all the devotees are safe. They said that 5000 food packets have been delivered to the stranded people.

Kedarnath Yatra postponed

Meanwhile, due to landslides at many places on the Kedarnath footpath, the Kedarnath Yatra is currently suspended keeping in mind the safety of the pilgrims. In this regard, the Rudraprayag district administration had issued an advisory to the pilgrims on Thursday, saying that the pilgrims who have reached Rudraprayag for Kedarnath Darshan should stay safe wherever they are and postpone their Kedarnath Dham Yatra for now. It was said in the advisory that at present the condition of the motorway and footpath beyond Sonprayag is not at all good and information regarding the repair of the path and smooth journey will be given later.

More than 3000 devotees were sent to safe places

So far, more than 3000 pilgrims have been evacuated to safer places from the Kedarnath route under the air and ground rescue operation being carried out by the personnel of the State Disaster Response Force and the National Disaster Response Force. The Prime Minister’s Office reviewed the rain situation in the state on Thursday night, after which Chinook and Mi-17 helicopters were sent by the Center to speed up the rescue operation going on here.
