Amitabh Bachchan was gifted a car worth 4 crores, his mother slapped the producer

Vidhu Vinod Chopra is a director of the film industry who needs no introduction in today’s time. There are many stories about him in Hindi cinema. Once he gifted a car worth four crores to Amitabh Bachchan, after which he was slapped by his mother.

When the director gifted Amitabh a car worth crores
This incident is from 2007. Vidhu Vinod Chopra was working with Amitabh Bachchan in the film ‘Eklavya: The Royal Guard’. Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt were also in the film along with Amitabh. In an interview, Vidhu Vinod Chopra had told an interesting story about the film. He had said- During the shooting of the film, a room worth 65 thousand rupees had to be booked for Amitabh Bachchan.

But due to low budget, he could not book a room for Big B. The dilemma was that if he booked a room only for Amitabh, Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt might feel bad. He did not want to hurt the feelings of any film star. Therefore, he did not book a room for Amitabh. However, later when he earned money in his career, he happily gifted a Rolls Royce worth 4 crores to Big B.

Got slapped by mother
Continuing this story, he further told that his mother slapped him for gifting a Rolls Royce worth 4 crores to Amitabh Bachchan. Vidhu Vinod Chopra said- I will never forget that incident. When I was gifting the car to Amitabh, I took my mother with me. Mother gave the car keys to Amitabh and came back and sat in my car. At that time I had a blue coloured Maruti van. She also called Big B Lambu.

‘This was the time when I did not have a driver. So I was driving the car myself. Mother asked me if I had given the car to Lambu. I said yes. She asked why don’t you buy it. So I said I will buy it when the time comes. After this, mother told me that it must be worth at least 11 lakhs, then I laughed and told her that no, it is worth 4 crores. On hearing this, she slapped me and called me a fool.’

It has been many years since this incident happened, but Vidhu Vinod Chopra has not forgotten that day till date.
